Striped Fang Blenny (Meiacanthus sp.)
Small fish, big personality—and a clever edge. The Striped Fang Blenny stands out with its bold black and yellow striping and active, curious behaviour. It’s a fantastic addition to reef tanks where you want movement, character, and something a bit different.
Unlike most blennies, this species is a planktivore, meaning it spends more time swimming in the water column rather than constantly grazing rock. It’s peaceful with most tank mates, but comes equipped with a unique defence—venomous fangs used only to deter aggressive fish (not something to worry about in a well-stocked community tank).
They’re hardy, easy to feed, and settle in quickly when provided with live rock for shelter and a stable environment.
Why you’ll love it:
- Striking black and yellow striped pattern
- Peaceful and reef safe
- Active swimmer with loads of personality
- Unique defence mechanism (venomous fangs)
- Easy to feed and care for
