Red & Green Blasto Coral
The Red & Green Blasto Coral (Blastomussa sp.) is a colourful LPS coral featuring fleshy polyps with a striking combination of red and green colouration. Its bold contrast and rounded, inflated polyps make it a fantastic choice for adding colour and texture to the lower areas of a reef aquarium.
Blastos are particularly popular with reef keepers because they provide impressive colour without requiring intense lighting or high water flow. Once settled, the individual polyps can inflate considerably, creating a full and vibrant appearance.

Blasto Corals generally perform best under lower to moderate lighting with gentle water movement. Avoid strong direct flow, as this can prevent the fleshy polyps from fully expanding.
Although primarily photosynthetic, Blastos respond well to occasional target feeding with appropriately sized coral foods or small meaty foods such as mysis.
Allow enough room around the colony for its polyps to fully inflate, and maintain stable reef parameters – particularly alkalinity, calcium and magnesium – to support healthy growth and skeletal development.
