The Pineapple Torch Coral (Euphyllia glabrescens) is a striking LPS coral with long flowing tentacles and vibrant yellow-green colouration that gives this variety its distinctive pineapple-inspired appearance.
Torch Corals are highly prized for the incredible movement they bring to a reef aquarium. When fully extended, the tentacles sway constantly in the current and create a bold feature that stands out beautifully amongst rockwork and other corals.

Aquarium Placement
Pineapple Torch Coral performs best under moderate lighting with gentle, variable water movement.
The tentacles should sway naturally through the current rather than being continuously blasted from one direction. Strong direct flow can damage the fleshy tissue, while insufficient flow can allow detritus to accumulate around the coral.
Secure mid-level rockwork is generally an excellent position.
Pineapple Colouration
The defining feature of this variety is its bright yellow-green colouration, giving it a vibrant tropical appearance under reef lighting.
Under blue-spectrum lighting, the fluorescent tones can become particularly intense, making the Pineapple Torch an excellent feature coral or addition to an established Euphyllia garden.
Feeding
Torch Corals receive most of their energy through photosynthesis but can benefit from occasional supplemental feeding.
Suitable foods include:
- Mysis shrimp
- LPS coral pellets
- Finely chopped marine foods
- Dedicated coral preparations
Occasional target feeding can help support healthy tissue and continued skeletal growth.
Give It Plenty of Space
Torch Corals are aggressive LPS corals and can extend long stinging tentacles beyond the visible skeleton.
Allow generous clearance from neighbouring corals and account for the coral’s fully extended size when choosing its permanent position.

- Nitrate and phosphate
Avoid rapid fluctuations, particularly in alkalinity, salinity and temperature.
