Green Rhodactis Mushroom
The Green Rhodactis Mushroom Coral is a hardy and easy-care soft coral that brings a clean splash of green colour to almost any reef aquarium.
Part of the Rhodactis genus, Mushroom Corals are well known for their simple round shape, fleshy texture and ability to thrive in lower-light areas where many other corals may struggle. Once established, they can gradually multiply and spread across nearby rockwork to form an attractive patch of colour.

Aquarium Placement
Green Mushrooms prefer lower lighting and gentle indirect water movement.
Avoid placing them directly beneath very intense lighting or in front of a strong wavemaker, as excessive light or flow can prevent the mushroom from fully expanding and may even cause it to detach from the rockwork.
Lower areas of the aquarium are often ideal.
Feeding
Green Mushrooms obtain most of their energy through photosynthesis and generally do not require regular target feeding.
They can also absorb dissolved nutrients from the water and may benefit from occasional fine coral foods or micro-foods.
Easy Natural Growth
One of the biggest attractions of Mushroom Corals is their ability to gradually reproduce and spread.
Over time, a healthy Green Mushroom can multiply across the surrounding rockwork, making it an excellent coral for:
- Filling lower-light areas
- Covering exposed rockwork
- Adding easy colour to beginner reef aquariums
- Creating natural-looking soft coral colonies
If you do not want the colony spreading extensively, consider placing it on an isolated rock.
Hardy, colourful and forgiving, the Green Mushroom is an excellent choice for newer reef keepers or anyone wanting an attractive soft coral with minimal fuss.
