Fish Heat Pack 40 Hour
The Fish Heat Pack 40 Hour is designed to help maintain a safer temperature inside insulated shipping boxes when transporting tropical fish, marine livestock, shrimp, corals and other temperature-sensitive aquarium livestock.
Once activated by exposure to air, the heat pack gradually produces warmth for up to approximately 40 hours, making it a useful option for overnight and longer-distance livestock transport.
How to Use
Remove the heat pack from its outer packaging and allow it to activate in the open air before placing it inside your shipping box.
At Simply Fish, we generally recommend allowing the heat pack around 5–10 minutes to begin warming up before sealing the box.
Because these heat packs rely on oxygen to generate heat, your polystyrene shipping box should have a small ventilation hole to allow fresh air to enter.
Important Shipping Tips
-
Larger shipping boxes may require additional heat packs.
-
Always consider the size of the box, outside temperature and livestock being transported.
-
More heat is not always better — overheating can be more dangerous to fish than allowing the temperature to drop slightly.
-
Avoid placing the heat pack directly against livestock bags.
-
Allow approximately 5–10 minutes for activation before closing the shipping box.
-
Ensure the shipping box has a small air hole, as the heat pack requires oxygen to continue working.
-
Use suitable insulation and secure livestock carefully during transport.
A practical addition to any aquarium livestock shipping setup, particularly during colder weather or when sending fish around New Zealand.
