Favia Frag
The Favia Frag is a colourful and relatively hardy LPS coral, well known for its chunky corallites, contrasting centres and attractive encrusting growth.
Favia are a great option for reef keepers looking to add bold colour and texture without stepping into the higher demands of more sensitive SPS corals. Depending on the individual fragment, colouration can range through greens, reds, yellows, teals and other contrasting tones.

Aquarium Care
Place Favia in an area with moderate lighting and indirect water movement.
Avoid very strong direct flow, as this can prevent the fleshy tissue from fully expanding. Once established, Favia will slowly encrust over nearby rockwork and develop into a larger colony.
Feeding
Favia receive most of their energy through photosynthesis but can benefit from occasional target feeding.
Suitable foods include:
- Mysis shrimp
- Fine LPS coral foods
- Enriched brine shrimp
- Finely chopped marine foods
Feeding tentacles often become more visible after lights out or when food is introduced to the aquarium.
Give It Space
Favia can extend sweeper tentacles, particularly at night, and may sting neighbouring corals.
Allow plenty of clearance around the fragment so it has room to expand and grow without coming into contact with nearby livestock.
Stable Parameters
As with most LPS corals, stable reef conditions are key.
Keep calcium, alkalinity, magnesium, salinity and temperature consistent, and avoid sudden swings in lighting or water chemistry.
Hardy, colourful and easy to place, the Favia Frag is an excellent addition to mixed reef aquariums and LPS-focused displays.
