Why Fauna Marin Is One of the Best Marine Aquarium Brands in New Zealand
When it comes to maintaining a healthy, thriving reef aquarium, water quality, stability and nutrition are everything. That's why Fauna Marin has become one of the most respected premium marine aquarium care brands worldwide.
Developed in Germany, Fauna Marin combines decades of reefkeeping experience, advanced laboratory testing and professional coral farming to create products designed for long-term success.
Whether you're setting up your first saltwater aquarium or maintaining a demanding SPS reef, Fauna Marin is one of our top recommendations for marine aquarium care in New Zealand.
What Makes Fauna Marin Different?
Unlike many aquarium brands, Fauna Marin develops and tests its products alongside its own large-scale coral farming operation.
The company has been professionally farming corals since 2001 and regularly propagates more than 230 coral species. Its facilities provide a real-world testing environment where new products can be evaluated and refined.
Fauna Marin also operates an advanced ICP laboratory in Germany, combining scientific water analysis with practical reefkeeping knowledge.
The result? Aquarium products backed by laboratory analysis and extensive hands-on coral husbandry experience.
Scientifically Tested for Reef Aquarium Stability
Consistency is one of the most important factors in successful reefkeeping. Sudden changes in calcium, alkalinity, magnesium and trace elements can place unnecessary stress on sensitive corals.
Fauna Marin takes water chemistry seriously.
Its Professional Sea Salt, for example, undergoes individual batch analysis in the company's ICP laboratory, with analytical results made publicly available.
Fauna Marin also offers professional ICP water testing, helping aquarium owners identify trace element deficiencies, unwanted contaminants and chemical imbalances that conventional home testing may miss.
This scientific approach makes Fauna Marin particularly appealing to reefkeepers who want to understand what's happening inside their aquariums rather than relying on guesswork.

Is Fauna Marin Worth Buying?
For reefkeepers who prioritise quality control, healthy coral growth and long-term aquarium stability, Fauna Marin is absolutely worth considering.
What makes the brand stand out is its integrated approach. Rather than treating salt, supplements, coral nutrition and testing as separate products, Fauna Marin offers systems designed to work together.
Of course, even the highest-quality products need to be used correctly. Regular testing, appropriate dosing and consistent maintenance remain essential for a successful reef aquarium.
